I love the Fusion razor, but since the blades went up and don’t last as long as they used to, they have priced me out of the market.

Indulge a short ramble if you please:

When I was growing up in south Florida we had three lawn mowers (four if you count the weed-eater). Each had its own purpose: a riding mower for the bulk of the lawn, an old Hahn-Eclipse push mower for trimming and for down by the canal, and an edger for the sidewalks and driveway.

You wouldn’t ride by the canal unless you wanted a swim; you wouldn’t do the whole yard with the push mower unless you wanted a coronary. Different tools for different parts of the job.

Bringing that thought back to the topic, I’ve started shaving most of my face with a high-quality single-blade razor, and reshaving/trimming with a Fusion. The single blades are very inexpensive, the end result is just as smooth, and the Fusion now lasts about three weeks instead of one.

One note of caution is that single-blade shaving is an acquired skill– don’t be discouraged if you have problems early on, you will get better. Also, apply aloe before and after; it will make things go more smoothly, especially the medicated aloe used for sunburns. Aloe is inexpensive and available at any grocery or drug store.
