Shots from the “2006 Tampa Bay Classic”:http://lucas-photo.com/bodybuilding/contests/tbc2K6 are up.

The setup of Jefferson High’s auditorium is, essentially, real-life CinemaScope™. While I was lucky enough to find a seat in the front row, it was quite a ways to the right side. Anyway, some of the angles may appear a bit unusual, and each shot needed some minor tweaking to the rotation, and that’s why. I love what the curtain and the halogen spot did for the color in the shots, so I call it even.

On deck I’ve got updates of Sherry Bubeck’s page, shots from yesterday’s 2006 Mid-Florida Muscle Classic, and some other neat things brewing; I’m not going to make any promises on dates yet as I’ve got rather a lot going on right now.

Shots from the 2006 Gateway Classic in Lake City are up on the site.

Unfortunately, the decision to omit prejudging routines, the rushed pace of the prejudging, and the low lighting levels combined to create some really tough lighting conditions. Some people, alone in their classes, did not even do their compulsories in the prejudging; they got fewer photos in the set.

I apologize for that, but there was nothing I could do. Speed-shooting in bad light is a chancy proposition at best. As it was, I had to spend an inordinate amount of time and effort manually tweaking the sharpness, contrast, and histograms of all the shots, just to make them look half-way decent.

On the positive side, local girl Toni took master’s figure overall; I have approximately ten grillion shots of her and will be posting her page “when I can find time to go through them all”. Ian and I also did a shoot with Wendy, one of the competitors, by the hotel pool and those shots came out very nicely, though they will likely go as a minishoot for now as she only had the one outfit.

One other tidbit: I just noticed from the Florida NPC page that the Space Coast show is back on, June 24. That’s been an enjoyable show in the past and I’m looking forward to it. There are a couple of other interesting things in the works as always, too: stay tuned.

Shots from the 2006 Sunshine Classic and Wheelchair Nationals are up on the site.

This was one of the shows I was going to pass on this year, because of the distance– Dwyer’s about a five-hour drive from home.

We can see how long that resolve lasted. ;)

But I had a couple of errands to run in the former hometown of Fort Lauderdale anyway, and besides the late April show in Lake City, there’s really nothing going on until mid-June (!)

So I figured, what the heck. And I got to talk to a couple of people that I might not have seen this year otherwise, so that’s always good.

The Florida NPC has posted the official 2006 contest schedule. I’ve updated my site with the new info and adjusted my travel plans– the St Augustine show got moved a bit, and the North Florida show is off. More details as I get them.

I’ve put up the proposed 2006 schedule on the site. I’ve reduced the number of shows by one, even though the Jacksonville show was restored to the lineup. I’ve also marked several shows as “tentative”.

Essentially my plan is to leave the Tampa-area shows to Ian, he does a great job. Of course if he’s got a conflict, or the promoter requests my presence, I’ll be more than happy to go.

Anything further away is also marked as tentative, based on what else I can accomplish whilst I’m there.

Apropos, I have three other goals this year, that I’ve been working towards for a while: shoots with Lisa Monti (hopefully March), Debbie Kruck (August, or possibly before), and Sherry Smith (November).

These women are all so beautiful that I’m hoping I can persuade them to take at least a few shots with their clothes on. :)

Important note: The dates on the list are based on the proposals made at the December 2005 sanction meeting. They are not official and will not be until the 2006 schedule is published on the official Florida NPC Web site.

And the show, and the year, is complete. whew!
