The last shots from the 2007 All-South are up, and that completes the 2007 season. (*whew!*)

As I mentioned, I went back to shooting the way *I* like to shoot at this show, and I am so much happier with the results I can’t even describe it. I hope you enjoy them as well.

Sanction Saturday went well; as usual I missed details on a couple of the shows because the room is noisy and the session goes quickly, but I got enough to put together a rough draft of the proposed 2008 schedule and I’ll have that up in a few days.

As always I was floored by the selfless attitudes of IFBB pros Dexter Jackson and Darrem Charles. Their love for the sport is unbelieveable and their willingness to help anyone is just what Florida bodybuilding needs.

Some more great news is that bodybuilding will return to Gainesville in 2008; the First Annual Greater Gainesville show is scheduled for October 18. I plan to do it, or train up for it at a bare minimum.

Now to the backlog of shoots…. :)

Shots from the 2007 Southeastern are up on the site.

There weren’t that many competitors, actually, but since they got to compete in multiple classes this one took a bit longer than anticipated.

On the plus side, the lighting was good and I was really able to bring some of the shots to life, I think.

One more show to go, then look forward to seeing some individual shoot updates and even some new pages.

Sanction Saturday is December 1. I think I am going to go. I’m desperately curious as to whether there will be a 2008 show in Gainesville– I need to train for another one soon.

Follow-up: Yes, this year will mark the First Annual Greater Gainesville show in mid-October.

Shots from the 2007 Lakeland show are up on the site– which means I am finally working my way into the backlog.

Florida Southern College architecture
I always enjoy Deb’s shows, they’re well-run and entertaining. And if you’ve never been to Florida Southern College and seen the amazing architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, you should make the trip. I love having the chance to geek out for a few moments. :)

Shots from the 2007 Hurricane/Typhoon Bay are (finally) up on the site.

I may have mentioned that the only thing I like better than speed shooting is speed shooting when it really isn’t necessary.

I think it stinks that some competitors get fewer, and worse, shots because of an accident of geography that puts them in the far corner of the stage when their class (or portion thereof) is called out. *Usually* the head judge will swap them around– but not always, and there’s no way to tell until it’s too late.

Part of this is my own fault– since the Dexter Jackson show, I’ve let myself be swayed by what other people think about how shots should look, instead of shooting what I know I’m good at. At the All-South I realized that, and not only got *way* better shots than the last few, but enjoyed the process a lot more as well.

That’s for a future rambling post, though– this one’s hopefully made the point, and I’ve still got to get the Lakeland and Southeastern shots up before I can get to the All-South, then start in on the backlog.

Apropos nothing, I finally got fed up with the games my ISP has been playing, continually losing my counter files on the “virtual host”, so I created a database-driven version that seems to be working a lot better. I fed in the last-known-good value, just over 600K visits, and we’ll let it run from there- though I suspect I’m well over a million hits by now.

Shots from the 2007 Floridas are (finally) up on the site.

It’s been nuts here to say the least. Not sure if I’m going to make it to the Southeastern next weekend or not.

At long last, shots from the Ancient City in St Augustine are up.

I’m not delighted with the color, the wonderful on-stage architecture that seems to help the white balance had been removed this year.

Next up: Dexter Jackson Classic.

The Florida NPC site has posted the 2007 bodybuilding contest schedule.

I’m still incorporating the data into the searchable schedule on my site, but I did go ahead and post the list of contests I plan to attend this year.

I’ve gone from 13 last year to 10 planned this year, with three of those ten noted as tentative.

Two are tagged for distance, and the third is the Gainesville show, which wasn’t listed in the calendar. I’m following up to see if that was an oversight.

In any case, I’m quite happy with the planned itenerary thus far– I think it’s much more manageable than in years past.

Update: The Gainesville show is tentative for this year. More as I find out.
