My opinion of Iraq had little or nothing to do with the way I voted. <\/p>\n<p>I know that&#8217;s a bizarre idea:  I had a difficult time voting for my <em>party<\/em> of choice when it was so questionably represented by the <em>individual<\/em> that was running.  <\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t imagine I was the only person in that position.   I&#8217;m not going to elect a schmuck to lead my state in order to send my President a message&#8211; I have my <strong>own<\/strong> farm to run, don&#8217;tcha know.<\/p>\n<p>So pundits, gather &#8217;round:<\/p>\n<p>You want to know how the people feel about Iraq?  Put it on a referendum.  <em>Ask us.<\/em>  Americans are never shy about sharing their opinions.<\/p>\n<p>But you&#8217;re treading dangerous water when you make assumptions about some sort of implied national mandate based on the results of local and state elections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m already starting to get sick of media pundits and other gadabouts who continue to claim that the last election results are a backlash against the situation in Iraq.
