Shots from the inaugural 2013 Galaxy Championships, held May 25 in St. Augustine, are up on the site.
I was uncertain whether the St. Augustine Amphitheater would be a good venue for a show, and if it weren’t for the unseasonably cool day I could foresee overheating issues– dizziness, lack of concentration, tans ruined by sweating, dehydration. And that’s just me. Who knows what the competitors might have to go through.
A smaller show for a level IVA, it was still well-run and ventilation issues aside the canvas “roof” provided a very nice, soft light. I did have to sit a ways back as the promoters chose to “tier off” a VIP area for the prejudging rather than general admission as has been the norm in the past.
But I didn’t mind much; it was also my first show with my new Canon and I was excited to push its limits a bit to see what it’s capable of. Cut to the chase– I’m most pleased.
Enjoy the shots!
